Olga Almacellas, PhD

Olga Almacellas is a biotechnologist with an MSc and a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from the University of Barcelona with broad childhood cancer research experience.
During her Ph.D., Olga studied pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma's molecular biology, describing the protumorigenic role of a novel protein in cellular migration, invasion, and metastasis. This work resulted in one publication as the first author in Cancer Letters journal.
Olga has taken an active part in other childhood cancer projects. During her Ph.D., she collaborated on different pediatric Ewing sarcoma projects, which resulted in three publications as a co-author. In her MSc, she worked on cell death mechanisms after drug treatments in pediatric neuroblastoma.
Olga has recently been awarded a Torres Quevedo grant, a competitive Spanish grant for pursuing a 3-years project at Oncoheroes Biosciences.
She is determined to bring her experience and dedication to contributing to new advances in treatments for children with cancer.
